NBA Draft 2011: What Does An NBA Scout Think Of Ralph Sampson III's Chances?

The NBA Draft is still over one month away, but with Ralph Sampson III having to decide by Sunday whether or not he’s staying in, the Minnesota Golden Gophers big man needs as much information as he can get from the NBA scouts as fast as he can get it.

It’s pretty helpful then that Yahoo!’s Jeff Eisenberg decided to poll an anonymous NBA scout about some of the early-entry candidates, including the University of Minnesota big man.

“He has some upside for sure. He was so clumsy and uncoordinated in high school that I thought he’d be a guy who rides the bench at Minnesota, but he’s actually good. He has NBA three-point range. He’s more of a four now because he can step out. He’s not bad. He can post you up, take you outside, take you inside. He might not be as talented as Jeff Green, but he’s got some Jeff Green in him.”

Watching the NBA Playoffs, it’s probably not a good thing that Sampson has “some Jeff Green in him.” If it helps him get drafted, though, more power to him.
