2012 college football schedule: Minnesota hosts Northwestern Wildcats

The Golden Gophers will be looking for their first conference win of the season.

The Minnesota Golden Gophers opened Big Ten play with a dud last Saturday, getting torched 30-13 by the Iowa Hawkeyes, but they will have a chance to redeem themselves this week when they host the Northwestern Wildcats. Northwestern enters the game with a 5-1 record after losing to the Penn State Nittany Lions last week.

That loss dropped the Wildcats out of the Top 25, but they are still a tough foe for Minnesota, who is looking to notch its first conference win of the season. The Wildcats have been on the road twice this season, defeating the Syracuse Orange in the first week of the season before falling in the aforementioned game in Happy Valley. Kickoff will be at 11a.m. CT, with the game being broadcast on ESPN2.

This week's schedule in the Big Ten does not feature a marquee game, but there will be some teams looking to score upsets. Those teams include the Indiana Hoosiers, who host the Ohio State Buckeyes at 7 p.m. on the Big Ten Network, and the Purdue Boilermakers, who will welcome the Wisconsin Badgers to town at 11 a.m. on the Big Ten Network. Elsewhere, Iowa visits the Michigan State Spartans (11 a.m., ESPN) and the Illinois Fighting Ilini face the Michigan Wolverines in the Big House (2:30 p.m., ABC).
