The initial BCS standings of 2012 were released on Sunday night, and no Big Ten teams made it into the top 25. Alabama is No. 1, while Florida, Oregon, Kansas State and Notre Dame round out the top five. All of those schools are 6-0 overall.

At 7-0, Ohio State would find itself somewhere in the rankings were it not ineligible for the postseason because of NCAA sanctions. The Buckeyes are atop the Leaders Division with a 3-0 conference record but cannot play in the Big Ten championship game. The same goes for Penn State, which is second in the Leaders with a 2-0 league record. Wisconsin is the only other team in that division with a league win.

On the Legends side, Iowa and Michigan are tied for first with 2-0 records in Big Ten play; both teams are 4-2 overall. The Minnesota Golden Gophers have yet to record a conference win but sit at 4-2 overall, which puts them in position to attain bowl eligibility.
