Minnesota Golden Gophers quarterback/wide receiver MarQueis Gray practiced with the team on Tuesday, but his status for Saturday's game against the Wisconsin Badgers has not been updated. According to Gophers coordinator Matt Limegrover, Gray took some snaps at quarterback but mostly focused on the wide receiver position.
Limegrover also said that Gray looks further along this week than he did at this point during the team's bye week two weeks ago when he was also returning from injury. Gray played in Minnesota's Oct. 13 loss to the Northwestern Wildcats for the first time since mid-September, but re-injured himself in the third quarter. Prior to that injury, Gray had ran for 86 yards and a touchdown.
On the year, Gray has ran 54 times for 320 yards and three touchdowns. He's also thrown for 464 yards and five touchdowns and caught one pass for 16 yards. Replacing him at quarterback while he's been hurt has been sophomore Max Shortell, who has completed 57% of his passes on the season, throwing for 791 yards, six touchdowns and four interceptions.
