The Minnesota Golden Gophers host the Purdue Boilermakers at 2:30 p.m. CT Saturday on the Big Ten Network. Minnesota is trying to stop a three-game losing streak after the team started the season 4-0.
Minnesota has scored just 13 points in each of those three losses after averaging nearly 30 points per game in their four wins. The Golden Gophers have played three quarterbacks in extensive action this season. Max Shortell has passed for 791 yards, six touchdowns and four interceptions. MarQueis Gray has passed for 464 yards and run for 320 yards. Philip Nelson started last week and passed for 149 yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions in a loss to Wisconsin.
Running back Donnell Kirkwood has rushed for 475 yards and three touchdowns. Wide receiver A.J. Barker has 442 receiving yards and five touchdowns.
Purdue comes into the game 3-4 and has also lost three straight. They are led by running back Akeem Shavers, who has 354 yards and three touchdowns, and wide receiver Antavian Edison, who has 381 receiving yards and five touchdowns.
Purdue won last year's contest between the two teams, 45-17. The Boilermakers are favored by six this year.
