The BCS standings received a slight bit of clarity this week after the loss of the Alabama Crimson Tide. That dropped the Tide from the ranks of the unbeaten and elevated the Kansas State Wildcats to No. 1, the Oregon Ducks to No. 2 and the Notre Dame FIghting Irish to No. 3. Behind those teams is six SEC teams, with the Florida St. Seminoles rounding out the top 10.
For the Irish, they are likely on the outside looking in unless Kansas State or Oregon drop a game. Notre Dame, of course, has their own test -- vs. the USC Trojans -- looming at the end of the season. Losses by two of those three teams would likely open a spot for Alabama -- or whichever team wins the SEC -- to re-enter the picture.
In the Big 10, the Nebraska Cornhuskers are the top team, clocking in at No. 15. The only other Big 10 team in the Top 25 is the Michigan Wolverines, who come in at No. 21.
