Minnesota vs. Memphis: Gophers prevail behind 41 points from Andre Hollins

Hollins' career day gives Minnesota the upset over Memphis.

Heading into today's game against Memphis, Andre Hollins had 49 points all season. He nearly matched that total today, as he finished with 41 points in Minnesota's 84-75 win.

Hollins had an almost perfect afternoon for Minnesota in their second game of the Battle 4 Atlantis. He shot 12-for-16 from the field and made all five of his three-point attempts. The sophomore also was 12-for-13 from the free throw line.

It's a major breakout for a player that was averaging 9.8 points per game and had never scored more than 25 points while at Minnesota.

Only one other Gopher, Rodney Williams Jr., reached double figures in scoring, finishing with 13 points and 7 rebounds.

The win for Minnesota comes a day after it lost its first game of the season, falling to Duke, 89-71.

The Gophers will now play the winner of Stanford and Northern Iowa before heading home from the Bahamas.
