Looking to avoid falling below .500 on the year, the Minnesota Golden Gophers will square off with the Texas Tech Red Raiders at Reliant Stadium on Friday in the 2012 Meineke Car Care Bowl.
Despite being heavy favorites due to their prolific offense, the Red Raiders are just 1-5 against the spread over their last six bowl games. Texas Tech also finished out its conference slate with losses in four of its last five contests, and gave up 50 points on four separate occasions to Big 12 opponents during the season.
The Gophers finished in last place in the Big Ten Legends Division, and will try to get back on track after winning exactly two games dating all the way back to Sept. 22. Head coach Jerry Kill's Gophers posted a 1-4 mark against the spread away from their home field this season, but still claimed victory over the Red Raiders against the spread in their latest meeting in 2006. Working against Minnesota's case however, is a strong 8-1-2 record for favorites against the spread over the last 11 Meineke Bowls.
Moneyline: Minnesota +400, Texas Tech -500
