University Of Minnesota To Start Season Against UNLV Two Days Early

The UNLV Rebels and the Minnesota Golden Gophers will kick off the 2012 college football season a couple of days earlier than was originally planned.

The game was originally going to be played on Saturday, Sept. 1, but will instead be played the Thursday prior. The opener for both teams, the game will be in Las Vegas, making it Minnesota's first road tussle of the season.

The move was made at UNLV's request. The kickoff time has yet to be announced, and probably will not be for a while, but the change of date was issued and announced as quickly as the University could announce it so that any fans making the journey down to Vegas for the opener would know with plenty of time that their flight plans might need to be changed.

Minnesota will still have their home opener on the same date, September 8th when they take on the New Hampshire Wildcats.
