Minnesota Vs. Northwestern: Golden Gophers Look To Start Winning Again

Minnesota, Norwestern both hungry for a Big Ten win.

The Minnesota Golden Gophers look for another valuable Big Ten win on Saturday evening when they visit the Northwestern Wildcats.

The Gophers have lost three of their last four Big Ten games including their last two after a motivated Ohio State Buckeyes team came into Williams Arena and put away the Gophers 78--68 on Tuesday. Forward Rodney Williams leads the Gophers in scoring with 11.1 points per game and put up a strong game against the Buckeyes with 21 points and 9 rebounds.

Northwestern also enters the game on a two-game losing streak, dropping games to Indiana and Purdue this past week after reeling off three Big Ten wins in a row. Forward John Shurna paces the Wildcats' attack with 20.3 points per game after putting up a strong effort in team's two defeats this week with 30 points against Purdue and 29 points at Indiana.

Both teams are among four teams tied for seventh in the Big Ten at 5-8 so with five conference games remaining, every win is critical as teams jockey for seeding position in the Big Ten Tournament.

The games tips off at 6:00 p.m. CT and will be televised on the Big Ten Network.
