Gophers Vs. Badgers: Minnesota's Second Half Collapse Leads To Wisconsin Win

The Minnesota Golden Gophers looked like they might be able to pull out a victory over the 14th-ranked Wisconsin Badgers on Tuesday night, but a second half collapse ended any hope for Tubby Smith's team. Smith's Gophers led 23-16 after an ugly first half, but ended up losing 52-45 in the Border Battle after coming out flat at halftime.

The Gophers couldn't make a shot to save their lives, shooting worse than 24 percent from the field as they made just 11 of their 46 field goal attempts. Andre Hollins and Rodney Williams each scored in double figures with 18 and 11 points respectively, but it was senior big man Ralph Sampson III who filled up the box score best as he finished with eight points, seven rebounds and five blocks.

The Badgers were led by Jordan Taylor's 22 points -- 17 of which came in the second half -- though his team wasn't much help as they shot just 12-of-39 from the field.
