Bracketology 2012: Minnesota More Than Likely NIT Bound

The latest bracketology updates, not surprisingly, have the Minnesota Golden Gophers men's basketball program not earning an at-large bid in the NCAA Tournament. However, the a NIT bid is very possible.

Selection Sunday is less than a week away, and men's basketball conference tournaments will determine a lot this week. Locally, the Big Ten Conference Tournament, which will feature the Minnesota Golden Gophers (18-13, 6-12 Big Ten) are the No. 10 seed.

According to the latest Bracketology postings by SB Nation's Chris Dobbertean, ESPN.com's Joe Lundari and SI.com's Andy Glockner, the Gophers only shot of earning a NCAA Tournament berth is completing the very difficult task of winning the Big Ten Tournament, which comes with an automatic qualifying bid.

Of course, this isn't surprising for a squad that finished its regular season 18-13 overall and 6-12 in the Big Ten.

As for the Gophers chances of making the 32-team NIT field, well, NITology.com believes the Gophers will be a No. 7 seed in the tournament.
