Gary Tinsley, who started for the Minnesota Golden Gophers' football team at linebacker during the 2011 season, was found dead in his dorm room in Minneapolis this morning. He was just 22 years of age.

According to Fox 9 in the Twin Cities, police and paramedics were called to Roy Wilkins Hall on University Avenue early on Friday morning. First responders attempted to resuscitate, but he was pronounced dead just before 8 AM Central time.

A cause of death has not yet been determined, but it has been released that the individual in question was, indeed, Gary Tinsley.

Tinsley started all 12 games for the Gophers this past season, finishing second on the team in tackles with 87. It was his senior season, and he had participated in the Gophers' Pro Day on campus this last month in hopes that some team would select him in the upcoming National Football League draft.

We will have more on this story as more news becomes available.
