The Minnesota Golden Gophers men's hockey team held on to their No. 2 ranking in the latest NCAA Division-I Men's Ice Hockey poll.
The Golden Gophers (4-1) received three first-place votes and garnered 924 points, giving them a 62-point edge over an undefeated Denver squad who received six first-place votes in this week's poll. The top spot in the poll belongs to perennial power Boston College (4-1), who received 38 first-place votes and have a 57-point cushion over Minnesota.
Also appearing in this week's poll are No. 17 Minnesota-Duluth (2-3-1), who slid three spots from No. 14 in last week's poll, and St. Cloud State (4-2), who were not ranked las week.
The Golden Gophers are coming off a 1-0 win over Canisius and will play a home-and-home set against in-state rival Minnesota State on Nov. 2 and 3. The Mavericks are 3-3 on the 2012 season and are coming off a two-game sweep against Alabama-Huntsville.
