The Minnesota Golden Gophers are likely getting an outdoor game next season, played at Soldier Field. The Star Tribune reports that the Golden Gophers are likely to be part of an outdoor college hockey doubleheader, as they play the Wisconsin Badgers and share the stage with a meeting between Notre Dame and Miami (Ohio). It's all set for Feb. 17 at Soldier Field, home of the Chicago Bears.
It'll be interesting to see exactly how it plays out, and how the weather will look like. It's not a domed stadium, and snow is pretty regular at that point. It will also be interesting to see how the schedule is going to work out exactly, with the Gophers official 2012-13 schedule having them playing the Badgers in Wisconsin on Feb. 15-16.
At any rate, it's not a done deal, and talks are still ongoing. If the game does go forward though, Wisconsin would be the "home" team (as would Miami). While Minnesota's schedule is official at this point, it can easily be changed around if this game goes through.
