Darko's Career High Scoring Effort Not Enough For Wolves To Beat Warriors

(Sports Network) – Monta Ellis scored 34 points to help the Golden State Warriors snap out of their funk with a 108-99 victory over the Minnesota Timberwolves.

Reggie Williams added 26 points for the Warriors, who had lost their last seven games. Dorrell Wright provided 12 points, while David Lee had 10 points and 11 rebounds in the victory.

Darko Milicic paced Minnesota with a career-high 25 points and 11 rebounds, but the Wolves fell to their 10th loss in 12 games. Michael Beasley had 19 points, while Kevin Love had 13 to go with 14 boards in defeat.

Ahead by one, 81-80, 2 1/2 minutes into the fourth, the Warriors began to pull away.

Williams hit consecutive three pointers to widen the gap to seven with just under eight minutes remaining, and his free throw with six minutes left maintained the seven-point margin, 92-85.

Luke Ridnour drained a 19-foot jumper with five minutes left to pull Minnesota to within six, but Ellis made a pair of free throws and a jumper, and Williams followed with a fastbreak dunk for a 100-88 advantage with 3:45 to go.

Golden State led by at least nine the rest of the way.

Minnesota held a 25-17 lead after one quarter, but the Warriors fought back and went ahead, 54-51, at halftime.

Williams’ three with 4 1/2 minutes left in the third put Golden State in front by six, but a pair of Corey Brewer free throws in the closing moments of the period brought the T’Wolves back to within 79-76 heading to the fourth.
