If you've been paying attention to the NBA Lockout. . .and if you haven't been, you can catch yourself up on everything in SB Nation's NBA Lockout stream. . .you know that Commissioner David Stern announced on Monday evening that the NBA was going to be cancelling the first two weeks of the NBA's regular season, and that the two sides were still "very, very far apart" on almost every major issue.
↵So, you know, any momentum that the league might have had from the Dallas Mavericks knocking off the "dream team" Miami Heat back in June is now pretty much gone. Stern should place a call to Gary Bettman and ask how much the whole "lockout" thing helped the NHL when they had to cancel an entire season.
↵So, this will affect your Minnesota Timberwolves just like it will affect every other team in the NBA. The following are the games that the Timberwolves would have hosted at the Target Center that will, now, no longer be taking place.
↵-November 2 vs the Atlanta Hawks
-November 5 vs the Toronto Raptors
-November 9 vs the Phoenix Suns
-November 11 vs the Sacramento Kings
With the way the schedule looks now, the Timberwolves' season opener will now take place at home on November 16, when the team is scheduled to host the Milwaukee Bucks.
↵You know, until the NBA cancels more games. Personally, I wouldn't go running out to buy tickets quite yet.
