Minnesota Lynx Have Shot At WNBA's Top Overall Draft Choice

The Minnesota Lynx are the reigning champions of the WNBA. . .and, in a weird twist, have a shot at grabbing the top overall pick in the 2012 WNBA Draft as well.

The Lynx have the #12 overall pick in the first round, because as the champions they pick last. However, thanks to the deal that sent forward Nicky Anosike to the Washington Mystics a couple of days before the 2011 WNBA Draft, they own Washington's first-round pick as well, and they have a 27.6% chance of grabbing the top pick. That gives them the second-best chance to win the lottery, behind only the Tulsa Shock, who have a 44.2% chance of acquiring the top selection. The other two teams in the WNBA lottery are the Chicago Sky and the Los Angeles Sparks, according to our friends at Canis Hoopus.

The Lynx seem to have a bit of luck on their side. . .they've won the WNBA lottery in each of the last two seasons, trading the top overall pick in the 2010 Draft to acquire Lindsay Whalen and drafting Maya Moore with the top pick last season.

A lucky streak? Man. . .it's like this team has forgotten that they're based in Minnesota or something.
