How excited is everyone for the Carmelo Anthony trade to finally happen? I know that I'm personally sick of all the rumors and speculation, I'd like to see something come of it eventually. According to Mitch Lawrence of the New York Daily News, we might not reach a resolution until the trade deadline, as the Nuggets continue to wait in an effort to drive the price up.
"The plan is to wait until as close to the 24th as they can, and see what other teams are going to offer between now and then," a person with knowledge of the Nuggets' plans said last night. "They're in no rush."
Ugh, why not? Can't we just get this show on the road please? I've got other things to write about, you know.
As for the teams that might be landing him, Lawrence still identifies the Knicks as the most likely destination, but identifies a sleeper team that might swoop in at the last second and steal him away.
The Bulls are seen as a potential last-minute destination for Anthony, who has listed Chicago behind New York as a preferred destination and would sign long-term to play alongside Derrick Rose and Carlos Boozer. Luol Deng or Taj Gibson could be in a package for Anthony.
The Bulls would likely have to part with Joakim Noah to land 'Melo. So they are facing a similar dilemma that the Lakers are facing. Is it worth parting with a very effective big man for a star wingman? We'll find out how the teams answer that question in the coming weeks.
