The Minnesota Timberwolves are continuing to pile up the lottery balls heading into this summer’s NBA Draft. Saturday night was no different, as they lost 130-106 without the services of Kevin Love and Darko Milicic, who were both out due to injury.
For the Nuggets, point guard Ty Lawson hit 10 3-pointers on his way to a career-high 37 points to go with seven rebounds and six assists while turning the ball over just once in 31 minutes of playing time. Teammate J.R. Smith hit six three-pointers himself, contributing all 18 of his points from beyond the arc.
Former North Carolina teammate — and current Wolves player — was pretty impressed with Lawson’s performance.
“I’ve seen him take over a game before but I’ve never seen him do it like that from the three-point line,” Ellington said according to the NBA.com recap. “It was just one of those things where a guy gets in a zone. It’s hard to stop that.”
Ellington finished with 10 points while making two three-pointers himself while Martell Webster and Lazar Hayward led Minnesota in scoring with 15 apiece.
The Wolves play in Phoenix on Monday before ending the season at home on Wednesday night versus the Houston Rockets.
