The 2011 NBA mock drafts haven't been a hot topic at SB Nation Minnesota lately simply because things have been pretty stagnant at the top. That all changes today remains the case this week, as well, as SB Nation's Tom Ziller released his latest NBA mock draft with the Minnesota Timberwolves again selecting Derrick Williams.
Ziller, a wordsmith like no other, decided that this week he would compare the draft prospects with players who've already played in the NBA to keep it interesting.
2. Minnesota Timberwolves: Derrick Williams, F, Arizona
DraftExpress (DX), bless them, have Williams' best case comparison as "Michael Beasley with perfect intangibles." So, basically "not Michael Beasley." I prefer to use the Danny Granger comparison, which means in about four years everyone will fall in love with Williams and in seven everyone will fall back out of love.
Honestly, I don't know if Beasley's intangibles are as bad as Ziller says they are, but it's doubtful anyone would complain about drafting the next Danny Granger.
With the Wolves other pick in the first round, at No. 20 overall, Ziller has the Wolves selecting Latvian small forward Davis Bertans. I don't know anything about him, but Ziller says he's the next Rick Fox so at least the Wolves might be drafting a bad actor!
