In his first time speaking to the media since breaking his hand, Minnesota Timberwolves forward Kevin Love made sure to eliminate any doubt about how exactly he became injured in the first place on Wednesday following practice.
Officially thwarting the rumors that he injured the hand in a much more provocative way, Love told Jerry Zgoda of the Minneapolis Star Tribune that his injury occurred while attempting a set of knuckle pushups during one of his usual morning workout routines.
"My hand just gave on me," Love said. "I know it's more sexy having punched something but also more idiotic, for lack of a better term. I didn't punch anything, sorry."
Still on his initial six to eight week timetable that was set back in mid-October, Love refers to the injury, which he says occurred at his Minneapolis condo exercise room, as nothing more than a "freak accident". The All-Star big man also made sure to point out that he always adds fingertip and kettle bell pushups to his regular workout, but only sparingly attempts the same type of knuckle pushups that broke his hand.
