The opinions on the Minnesota Timberwolves are spread as they deal with multiple injuries. The Timberwolves are without Ricky Rubio and Kevin Love for at least the first month of the season as they recover from their injuries. To add to the confusion J.J. Barea suffered a concussion, although it did not cause him to miss any time.
In Seth Rosenthal's power rankings at SB Nation, the Wolves come in at No. 24, but he realizes they have potential:
Brandon Roy's play has been less inspiring than expected and Nikola Pekovic may be missing Kevin Love's magnetic pull, but this team looks prepared to be pretty decent once they're healthy. It might be tough to tread water between now and whenever that is.
Marc Stein of ESPN also has Minnesota at No. 24, as does John Schuhmann of NBA.com, but other rankings have Minnesota higher. Kurt Helin of Pro Basketball Talk has the Timberwolves at No. 18. However, all of those rankings came out on Monday, Nov. 5 before Minnesota defeated the Brooklyn Nets and J.J. Barea returned to the court without missing time. Matt Moore at CBS Sports, who published his rankings on Tuesday, has the Wolves at No. 14.
Overall that gives Minnesota an average ranking of 20.8.
