Ricky Rubio injury: Timberwolves point guard could return on Saturday night vs. Mavericks

Minnesota's star Spanish point guard may return to the court on Saturday.

US PRESSWIRE

Minnesota Timberwolves point guard Ricky Rubio could return to the court on Saturday vs. the Dallas Mavericks, according to the Associated Press. According to Wolves head coach Rick Adelman, Rubio worked out in Minnesota on Friday and will be a game-time decision on Saturday when the Wolves host the Mavs.

Rubio will work out again on Saturday, at which point team officials will determine if he's ready to play. According to Adelman, Rubio hasn't had any setbacks in his rehab from the torn ACL that he suffered in March. Adelman also said that the team has no idea how many minutes Rubio will play upon his return.

In 41 games for Minnesota last season, Rubio averaged 10.6 points, 8.2 assists and 4.2 rebounds per game. He struggled shooting the ball, but was considered one of the top defensive point guards in the NBA and helped revitalize a Timberwolves team that made a run at the playoffs last season before his injury.
