NBA Trade Rumors: Would Houston Rockets Trade Kevin Martin To Minnesota?

The latest NBA trade rumors indicate Kevin Martin would like to part ways with the Houston Rockets. It's quite clear the Minnesota Timberwolves need a new shooting guard and reuniting Martin with head coach Rick Adelman certainly couldn't hurt.

NBA trade rumors continue to circulate around the Minnesota Timberwolves even though the trade deadline is still nearly one month away. The latest transactions the Wolves are apparently interested in acquring Kevin Martin, a player Minnesota head coach Rick Adelman has coached with both the Sacramento Kings and Houston Rockets.

Martin is apparently unhappy playing for former Wolves coach Kevin McHale and the Rockets, according to HoopsWorld's Bill Ingram. Ingram intimates that Martin would be a welcome addition to Adelman's rotation if president of basketball operations David Kahn was somehow able to swing a deal with Rockets general manager Daryl Morey.

It's also no secret that Rick Adelman would welcome Martin with open arms, should the Rockets value something from the Timberwolves' roster worthy of a trade for Martin. To date that connection has not been made, but it's something that's slow-cooking on the back burner as the trade deadline inches closer.

If the Wolves haven't picked up the phone, Kahn should in a hurry as Martin would be able to solve the shooting guard problem sweeping over the Land of 10,000 Lakes. The 29-year-old guard has good size, a good touch and would likely be able to step into Adelman's offense immediately.

The easiest deal to assume has a chance of happening would be shipping Michael Beasley south as he's been involved in the majority of the Wolves trade rumors already. The Wolves would have to include a second player to make salaries work, though, meaning Anthony Randolph would probably be thrown in to make everything work (the Rockets love discarded power forwards anyway, right?).

There are likely going to be plenty of other shooting guards associated with the Wolves right up until the trade deadline, but Martin wouldn't be a bad option if the Wolves aren't forced to surrender too many pieces in return.
