NBA Trade Rumors: Lakers Chatter Doesn't Bug Michael Beasley

The Los Angeles Lakers have been popping up in the majority of the NBA trade rumors involving the Minnesota Timberwolves as they apparently covet forward Michael Beasley. There are now reports out of Minneapolis that the Lakers have indeed inquired about Beasley, but it doesn't seem anything's going to happen anytime soon.

That's fine by Beasley, though, according to comments he recently made to the Star Tribune's Charley Waters.

"I just play basketball, and if that happens, it happens, and I still play basketball," Beasley said. "For now, I'm a Timberwolf. I love my team and my coaches. If it's time for me to go, I have no control over that. I'm just playing the game and keeping my mouth shut."

Beasley's been well-behaved heading into the NBA All-Star break, making him less of a problem than he's typically been perceived to me during his time in the league. That shouldn't stop the Wolves from dealing him if they can get value back, however, as it makes sense to start giving rookie Derrick Williams more playing time sooner rather than later.

According to Waters, though, the current sentiment in the Timberwolves front office isn't to acquire more players. They'd rather make a deal for picks, apparently -- keeping a young team young in the process.

There's still plenty of time until the NBA trade deadline, meaning more offers are sure to come up for Beasley. Hopefully he can keep his cool until the Wolves decide what they want to do with him.
