Timberwolves Vs. Kings: Love-less Minnesota Hosts Sacramento With Chance To Crack .500

The Timberwolves try to sneak above .500 for the first time all season as the Kings pay a visit to Minnesota.

Kevin Love begins his two-game suspension tonight as the Timberwolves host the Sacramento Kings.

Love’s suspension comes on the heels of his Saturday night face-stomp of Houston Rockets big man Luis Scola. The Timberwolves prevailed 100-91 behinds Love’s 25 and 18. Alas, they’ll be without the services of their leading scorer and rebounder on Tuesday and again on Wednesday when they travel to Memphis.

Love has apologized, issuing a statement on Minnesota's website Monday afternoon.

As for Tuesday's game, well, there are worse contests for Love to miss. The Kings come in just 9-15 and 3-11 on the road. Granted, they have won three in a row, including Monday’s 100-92 win over New Orleans. It's also true that Kings forward DeMarcus Cousins has been on a tear of late, averaging a Love-like 24.5 points and 19.5 rebounds over his last two contests.

All the same, this is the third game in four nights for Sacramento, which is 2-4 in games not preceded by a day off. Plus Cousins is anything but consistent: Before his two-game explosion, he had eight points and six boards. He averages 15.5 points on the season.

A win would put the Timberwolves at 13-12, the first time all season they'd be above .500.

Tuesday’s game tips at 7 and will be on Fox Sports North.
