Timberwolves Vs. Grizzlies: Minnesota Falls 85-80, Snapping Three-Game Winning Streak

The Timberwolves fell 85-80 to Memphis on Wednesday, snapping a three-game winning streak and dropping Minnesota to 13-13.

That said, all is not lost for the Timberwolves.

First off, Kevin Love is done with his NBA-mandated two-game suspension, which he served Tuesday and Wednesday. Plus, even if the loss snapped the T-Wolves’ winning streak, they are still sitting at .500. Minnesota had been below .500 for the entire season until Feb. 4, and with two straight home games upcoming, the Timberwolves have every chance to keep their record at least even.

Plus, maybe best of all, the Timberwolves can put Wednesday’s game behind them — it’s one that they’ll want to forget.

Minnesota’s starting backcourt of Ricky Rubio and Luke Ridnour was just 2 of 14 combined from the field. The Grizzlies also outrebounded Minnesota 59 to 47, a margin no doubt padded by Love’s absence. Love could have probably helped with the three-point shooting, which betrayed Minnesota big-time. The Timberwolves were just 4 of 19 from downtown.

J.J. Barea led Minnesota with 17 points and six dimes, while Michael Beasley and Derrick Williams each tallied 13. Nikola Pekovic had 10 and nine in his sixth start of the season.

Rudy Gay led all scorers with 19.
