Kevin Garnett Does Not Miss The Minnesota Timberwolves

Kevin Garnett and the Boston Celtics will play the Minnesota Timberwolves on Friday night. Surprisingly, Garnett apparently doesn't feel much love for his former team.

Kevin Garnett will likely be remembered as the face of the Minnesota Timberwolves franchise whenever he decides to retire, despite not winning an NBA championship until he was traded to the Boston Celtics. That might not sit so well with him, however, according to recent quotes.

Garnett will return to Minnesota on Friday night when his Boston Celtics play the Wolves. Most would probably think that a Vanilla Ice concert is going to be the main event of the evening, but Garnett has decided to play up his role as a heel on the weekend of Wrestlemania.

The former MVP and 14-time All-Star is averaging 15.6 points and 8.1 rebounds in 47 games for the Celtics this season, numbers that are solid ... but don't quite reach what he was doing while with the Timberwolves (and pale in comparison to Kevin Love, for what it's worth). That said, he still took a small shot at Minnesota in a recent interview with ESPN Boston's Chris Forsberg.

"It's always special to come back to true fans and your foundation, but as far as that franchise, I have nothing positive to say. So I'll just let it be that. I think Kevin Love's playing at a high level, I think he's rejuvenated the city as far as basketball goes. Other than that, nothing else."

It was an interesting interview with the former Wolves centerpiece, to be sure. In fact, the best quote probably didn't even the Minnesota return ... just cranky Garnett:

"I'm motivated. I hear y'all calling me old. I hear y'all calling me ... older. Weathered. I'm motivated, it don't take much to motivate me, man," Garnett said. "I'm older in basketball years, but in life, I'm 30-something. I think some of y'all -- I'm looking at your [scans the hair of reporters in front of him] gray hair, no hair, hat hair, beautiful hair, wet hair, ummm, no comment. I'm just motivated. I like to use that word.

Who knows what's all going on with the beginning of that quote, but it'll be interesting to see how motivated he can make the rest of his team for Friday night's game against his former team.
