Kevin Garnett will make his return to the Target Center in Minnesota Friday night as the Minnesota Timberwolves host the Boston Celtics at 8 p.m. EST.
In order to defeat the former Timberwolves star, Kevin Love will have to keep up his torrid pace (31.3 points per game this month) because J.J. Barea, Michael Beasley and Nikola Pekovic all remain out with various ailments, according to Jerry Zgoda of The Star Tribune. Barea hopes to return Wednesday against Golden State.
The Celtics tweeted that Ray Allen will again sit with a sprained ankle, while Frank Dell'Apa of Boston.com reports that Avery Bradley will take his place in the starting lineup. Allen could return for the Celtics' game against Miami Sunday.
The Celtics started the night tied with Philadelphia for first place in the Atlantic Division. This is the only meeting between the two teams this season.
