The 2012 NBA mock draft season is in full effect which, despite a very good NBA Finals series, is great news for those following the lesser teams that weren't exactly relevant to the playoff picture this season. One of those teams, of course, was SB Nation Minnesota's own Minnesota Timberwolves.
The Wolves have a couple of very good pieces on the roster already, but the wing is in dire need of an upgrade. Thankfully that upgrade seems on the way, too, because Jonathan Givony's latest iteration has the Wolves picking up Washington Huskies wing Terrence Ross.
After eight straight years of missing the playoffs, and with general manager David Kahn entering the final year of his contract, Minnesota will need to make some moves this summer to improve its roster and finally break its postseason drought. The Timberwolves are especially weak at the wing positions, where they could desperately use some additional scoring punch to take the heat off Kevin Love and Ricky Rubio.
Terrence Ross has excellent size for the wing at 6-7 and a picture perfect stroke to go along with it. His athleticism would make him a favorite for alleyoop lobs from the likes of both Love and Rubio, making this a no-brainer selection if he happens to fall this far.
Ross's name is coming quite a bit as of late -- ESPN's Chad Ford said the same earlier this week -- and it seems like a consensus is forming if he ends up falling to the Wolves. Basketball is back in Minnesota, you guys!
