Apologies for our delay in coverage this evening. . .let’s get you caught up on the scoring thus far.
The Twins opened the scoring in the bottom of the second inning. After Jim Thome led off the inning by getting hit by a C.C. Sabathia pitch, Michael Cuddyer made the Yankees pay with a home run to center field to give the Twins an early 2-0 lead.
The Twins tacked on one more in the bottom of the third. Orlando Hudson led off the inning with a single, and advanced to third on a Joe Mauer ground out. On the next batter, Sabathia uncorked a wild pitch that allowed Hudson to score, and the Twins’ lead increased to 3-1.
Now, the game is in the top of the sixth, and Liriano finds himself in a bit of trouble. RBI singles by Robinson Cano and Jorge Posada have let the Yankees claw back to within 3-2, and the Yankees still have runners on first and second with two out.
