The Twins clawed back to even with the Yankees, but they gave things back just as quickly.
After a walk to Jorge Posada and what appeared to be strike three to Lance Berkman, Berman doubled into the left-center field gap to score Posada from first.
Twins’ manager Ron Gardenhire went out to the mound to talk to Carl Pavano, and as the conference broke up, Gardenhire followed home plate umpire Hunter Wendelstedt back to the plate, jawing away the entire time. The umpire eventually got tired of hearing it, and gave Gardy the thumb.
The Yankees now have runners on first and third with nobody out, having retaken a 3-2 lead in the top of the seventh inning.
