Various media sources are reporting that the Minnesota Twins have come to terms on a two-year contract with right-handed starting pitcher Carl Pavano.
Pavano had an outstanding year for the Twins in 2010, posting a 17-11 mark and a 3.75 ERA. In 221 innings pitched, he posted a WHIP of 1.195, and walked only 37 batters in those 221 innings.
He was also a finalist for the American Mustache Institute's. . .deep breath. . .Robert Goulet Memorial Mustached American of the Year Award. Yes, there is such a thing as the American Mustache Institute, and they did indeed give out that award. No word as to whether or not Pavano and his agent brought this up in contract negotiations.
As soon as we have the terms of the deal, we'll have them here for you, and I'm sure that the good folks over at Twinkie Town will have more on this signing as well.
EDIT: The two-year deal is for a total of $16.5 million dollars. About what was expected.
