A few weeks ago, Bert Blyleven achieved baseball immortality as he was finally elected into the Baseball Hall of Fame. Now, the Minnesota Twins have announced that he's achieved another sort of immortality, as the team is prepared to retire the number 28 that Blyleven wore while a member of the Twins.
↵Blyleven's number will be retired before the July 16th contest between the Twins and the American League Champion Texas Rangers at Target Field.
↵The Dutchman's number 28 will be the sixth number in the history of the Minnesota Twins to be retired. Here is the remainder of that list.

- Harmon Killebrew, number 3, retired in 1975 ↵
- Rod Carew, number 29, retired in 1987 ↵
- Tony Oliva, number 6, retired in 1991 ↵
- Kent Hrbek, number 14, retired in 1995 ↵
- Kirby Puckett, number 34, retired in 1997 ↵
Congratulations to Blyleven on this special achievement in Twins' history.
