Twins Sign Dominican Right-Hander Felix Jorge

Seth Stohs is reporting that the Minnesota Twins have signed 17-year old Dominican right-hander Felix Jorge to a contract. The amount is reported to be approximately $250,000.

According to Ben Badler of Baseball America, Jorge has a fastball that clocks in at between 88 and 91 miles an hour, which is pretty darn impressive for a 17-year old that stands 6'4" and only weighs 175 pounds. One would have to imagine that as he develops more strength, the speed on that fastball will increase.

Jorge is likely to pitch in the Dominican Summer League in 2011, and could move up to the Gulf Coast League if he is successful there. Hopefully he can add to an already rich Minnesota Twins farm system.
