Minnesota Twins Waive Pitcher Pat Neshek

Well, I'm kind of disappointed by this, to be honest. Phil Mackey of ESPN 1500, along with numerous other sources, is reporting that the Minnesota Twins have placed relief pitcher Pat Neshek on waivers, and that he has already been claimed by the San Diego Padres.

Neshek underwent Tommy John surgery on November 18, 2008, and missed the entire 2009 season as a result. He pitched just nine innings in 2010, compiling a record of 0-1 with a 5.00 ERA in nine innings pitched, striking out nine and walking eight.

Neshek's best season for the Twins was the 2007 season, when he went 7-2 with a 2.94 ERA and was one of the five players that were in a run-off for the final spot on the American League All-Star team (a spot that wound up going to Red Sox pitcher Hideki Okajima).

Best of luck to Pat Neshek at his next destination, and here's hoping he can get over the injury woes that have derailed most of his last three seasons.
