Joe Mauer Makes A Lot Of Money

Joe Mauer is expected to return to the Minnesota Twins soon following an extended trip to the disabled list, giving even more hope to a team that seems to be turning it around. That would be the news most days, but not today.

Today's big news regarding the Twins catcher is that Mauer is the 18th highest-paid athlete according to a report from Sports Illustrated. According to the article, Mauer will make $23,000,000 this season along with an additional $750,000 in endorsements.

For those keeping track, that would mean that Mauer is making nearly $650,000 per at bat for the Twins thus far this season so it'll be interesting to see if he's able to earn his paycheck upon his return.

No other Minnesota athletes make the list, but former Timberwolves forward Kevin Garnett ranked seventh out of all athletes with combined earnings of nearly $33 million this season. Tiger Woods is the top earning athlete, unsurprisingly.
