Twins Recall Young And Plouffe From Rochester

The Minnesota Twins have already made a couple of roster moves to prepare themselves for the second half of the 2011 regular season, which will kick off on Thursday night at Target Field when the Twins play host to the Kansas City Royals.

After Sunday afternoon's 6-3 victory over the Chicago White Sox, the Twins announced that they would be recalling both outfielder Delmon Young and shortstop Trevor Plouffe from the Rochester Red Wings. To make room on the roster, the Twins will be sending a couple of Rene's. . .Rene Tosoni and Rene Rivera. . .to Rochester.

Young has been out of the lineup since suffering what looked like an awful injury to his leg in a loss to the Milwaukee Brewers on June 25. Plouffe has been up with the Twins previously this season, but was sent down after some defensive lapses and some other players getting healthy.

The Twins will begin the second half of the season just 6.5 games behind the AL Central-leading Detroit Tigers. Getting some more bats back and healthy can only help their cause.
