MLB Standings Update: Twins Looking Up At Pretty Much Everybody

The Minnesota Twins are doing an awfully bad job of staying out of last place in the American League Central. Not only is that where they currently reside, they're now a full two games behind the Kansas City Royals for that position in the division.

Here are your up-to-the-minute American League Central standings:

AL Central Standings

W L PCT GB STRK
Detroit 85 62 .578 0 Won 10
Chicago 73 73 .500 11.5 Lost 2
Cleveland 72 72 .500 11.5 Won 1
Kansas City 62 86 .418 23.5 Won 2
Minnesota 59 87 .404 25.5 Lost 3

As you can see, the Twins trail the Royals by two games. Some of this has to do with the fact that the Twins have played 146 games to Kansas City's 148 and, hence, have not had as many opportunities to win ball games, but with the way the Twins have played this season, we don't know how much of a difference that would make at this point, anyway.

The Twins can either fight their way out of the basement or cement themselves further into it over the next couple of days, as they have an abbreviated two-game set in Kansas City starting on Tuesday night.
