How Does Your Job Compare To Joe Mauer's?

Well, rest assured. . .most of us have jobs that aren't anywhere near as cool as Joe Mauer's, but the folks from that little sports network in Bristol, Connecticut have discovered a way to show us just how ridiculous the money in big-time sports is compared to what us regular, working folks get.

Ladies and gentlemen, I give you the Joe Mauer Salary Crunch from the good folks at ESPN.

↵

ESPN has done this with several athletes, and now it's Mauer's turn. Basically what the page amounts to is that you put your annual salary into the box, and it tells you approximately how long it takes Joe Mauer to make that much money. For example, say you have a job that pays you $50,000 a year. . .Joe Mauer makes $50,000 for playing .3 of a game (or about three innings), every .06 home runs he hits, every .42 hits he collects, and every .21 runs he drives in.

↵

See. . .Joe Mauer doesn't even have to put forth a 100% effort to make more money than you do!

↵

Okay. . .back to work, ladies and gentlemen. Those TPS reports aren't going to write themselves. Who do you think you are, Joe Mauer or something?

(Hat tip to Bob Collins at MPR News' "Newscut" for bringing this to light.)
