The Minnesota Twins begin a three-fame series with the Kansas City Royals Friday night at 8:10 ET at Target Field. Both teams are tied for last place in the Central Division at 5-14.

Earlier this week the Twins were swept by Boston Red Sox and they enter the series having lost five consecutive games. Meanwhile, the Royals have won their last two contests against the Cleveland Indians following a 12-game losing streak.

Carl Pavano (1-2, 4.73 ERA) will try to halt Minnesota's losing streak when he takes the mound Friday night.

Danny Duffy was expected to start this game for Kansas City, but was scratched due to elbow tightness. Everett Teaford (0-1, 3.86) will start in Duffy's place. In seven innings this season, the left-hander has allowed three hits and three runs while walking five.In three starts as a rookie last year, Teaford went 2-1 with a 3.38 ERA.
