The Minnesota Twins came back from a 4-1 deficit in the eighth inning to tie it, but Shin-Soo Choo's RBI single off Matt Capps in the ninth helped the Cleveland Indians end their three-game losing streak, 5-4.
The Twins only managed one unearned run off Indians starter Jeanmar Gomez, but they scored thrice in the bottom of the eighth against the Tribe's bullpen, thanks to an RBI double by Josh Willingham and a two-run shot off the bat of Ryan Doumit.
Unfortunately for the Twins, Matt Capps gave up a one-out single to Casey Kotchman in the ninth, allowed him to get to second on a wild pitch and then gave up the game-winning hit to Choo, who was in the lead off spot of the Indians' lineup for the first time this season.
Capps took the loss, Joe Smith stole a win for the Indians and Chris Perez picked up his 12th save of the season.
Francisco Liriano struck out three in two scoreless innings of relief, his first relief appearance of the season since getting demoted from the rotation last week.
This quick, two-game series finishes up tomorrow at 1:10 p.m. CT.
