The Minnesota Twins know this match up all too well, but not in a good way. They faced the LA Angels in a different series five days ago with Jered Weaver on the mound, who hurled a no hitter against the hapless Twins offense. Weaver is the scheduled first pitcher in the new series starting Monday as well.
Weaver can't be thrilled about facing the same team twice in a row, especially with the usual drop in form after a no-no that a pitcher usually sees, but the Twins have been awful offensively so he can't be that upset either.
Even worse, the Angels bats might be starting to cook a bit more as well. Albert Pujols, famous for his slugging, had gone 111 at bats with no home runs until finally hitting a dinger on Sunday. Francisco Liriano will take the mound for the Twins and will need to keep his wits about him with Pujols getting a taste of his old Home Run feast and surely wanting more.
Minnesota only scored three runs in their last series against the Angels, all in the first game as they ended up being swept.
The game will be at Target Field at 8:10 p.m. ET.
