Despite sitting in last place in the American League Central, a member of the Minnesota Twins is having quite a bit of success in the All-Star Balloting for Major League Baseball's All-Star Game in Kansas City. Voting closes on June 28, but Joe Mauer is doing very well according to the first ballot update.
Mauer is in third place among American league catchers with 637,364 votes. He trails Matt Wieters of the surprisingly strong Orioles, who has 713,469 votes and Mike Napoli of the Rangers with 1,224,565 votes.
Mauer is the lone representative of the Twins that is currently in the top five of players at his position. Many of the positions have an American League Central flair with the White Sox and tigers having several players doing well in voting.
