The Minnesota Twins are on a rare run of good form right now after taking two series wins in a row from the Oakland Athletics and Cleveland Indians. They're still not sniffing the top of the AL Central, but they'll have a decent chance at gaining more ground against the Kansas City Royals in a three game series starting on Monday.

The Royals have the worst home record in the league at 7-18, but are coming into the game on a winning streak of their own with six wins in their last eight games.

Cole De Vries will take the mound for the Twins. He has an 0-1 record and 2.70 ERA so far in his young career. He'll face Will Smith of the Royals, he of a 1-1 record and 6.75 ERA. Both pitchers are rookies, which should make for an interesting match up of the two teams' offenses. The Twins might have a bit less bite with Joe Mauer day to day with a thumb sprain.

The game will be at Kauffman Stadium at 8:10 p.m. ET.
