Cole De Vries will try to bounce back from his worst outing of the season in Thursday's series finale between the Twins and Orioles.
De Vries, 2-2 with a 4.37 ERA, got knocked around last Saturday against the Oakland Athletics, who have scored the third-fewest runs in baseball. The rookie gave up seven runs in five innings. In the start prior to that, he held the Texas Rangers -- who have scored the second-most runs in baseball -- scoreless over seven innings. So the potential is there -- just not the consistency.
Orioles starter Wei-Yin Chen is 7-5 with a 3.80 ERA.
Twins third baseman Trevor Plouffe is riding a 16-game hitting streak. For all the Twins' problems this season, they are one of just two teams, along with the Giants, to have three separate 15-game hitting streaks. Josh Willingham had two in addition to Plouffe's.
First pitch is scheduled for 12:10 p.m. CT.
