Twins Roster Moves: Matt Carson Officially Promoted To 40-Man Roster, Rene Tosoni Outrighted

With Denard Span still nursing an injured right shoulder, the Twins made a move to add depth to their outfield by promoting Matt Carson from Triple-A Rochester on Friday. The team announced the move prior to a Friday game against the Seattle Mariners and also announced they will outright Double-A New Britain outfielder Rene Tosoni to make room on the 40-man roster.

Carson, 31, hasn't participated in a Major League game since 2010 with the Oakland A's when he hit .177 in 36 games. During 110 games with the Rochester Red Wings, Carson batted .277 with 14 home runs and a team-leading 49 RBIs while contributing at all three outfield positions.

On Wednesday, the Twins optioned relievers Luis Perdomo and Jeff Manship, and announced that reliever Anthony Swarzak would be activated from the 15-day disabled list. Carson will be in uniform against Seattle on Friday night.
