Denard Span Injury: Twins OF Still Nursing Sore Shoulder

Minnesota Twins outfielder Denard Span is still ailing from a sore right shoulder, causing him to miss his sixth consecutive game Sunday, according to the Twins official site.

Span injured his shoulder diving for a fly ball on August 12. Despite his recent absence from the Minnesota lineup, the club remains optimistic that Span will return soon and, therefore, are refraining from placing him on the 15-day DL. Span has hit from a tee in the past few days but has yet to resume batting practice. He says his shoulder does not bother him on throws, but he feels discomfort at the plate.

"I just need to get where I can swing without feeling anything," Span said. "I haven't had anything like that yet."

Span is batting .287 with 34 RBIs, 58 runs scored and three home runs in 104 games this season. He also has stolen 12 bases in 18 attempts.
