Moss Still Not "Officially" Waived?

According to the folks over at Pro Football Talk, the. . .well, you know that whole “Vikings have waived Randy Moss” thing that everything has blown up about this afternoon? Yeah. . .maybe not so fast.

Jay Glazer of FOX reports that, although coach Brad Childress has informed the team that Moss has been waived, the move has not yet officially occurred — and Moss (as we reported earlier) still has not been informed of the move.

Ummmmmm. . .yeah.

Apparently Brad Childress has something in his contract that allows him to cut players without consulting with management, and that’s what he’s done with Moss. . .or, rather, what he’s trying to do. However, one would have to imagine that Zygi Wilf would be none too pleased about dumping a player that he just shelled out a third-round draft choice to acquire on October 6th.

Now, it’s hard to imagine a scenario where Randy Moss and Brad Childress ever occupy the same locker room again. So, if the front office doesn’t want Moss gone. . .and that might be the case, since Moss wasn’t on today’s waiver report. . .it may come down to either Moss or Childress.

We can only hope that Zygi Wilf knows which choice is the wise one. (Hint: It’s not Childress.)
